Please help spread the word

Human beings have been worshipping their imaginary gods for thousands of years. The Egyptians built the pyramids for their imaginary gods. The Romans worshipped Zeus and his imaginary friends in huge temples made of marble. The Aztecs sacrificed thousands of people on gigantic stone altars for their imaginary masters.

It is obvious that God and Allah are just as imaginary. The problem is, this is the 21st century, and the followers of these imaginary beings are becoming more and more dangerous. September 11 brought this truth to life in vivid detail, and there are many other indicators as well.

This prompts a question: What if rational, intelligent human beings begin uniting together to help heal the delusion and make our world a better place? It is an intriguing thought. There would be many benefits.

But how? How can we begin improving our society, so that it becomes rational rather than religious? How do we make the transition in a way that is helpful rather than destructive? How can we change something that has been the status quo for thousands of years? It is fascinating to think about how this transformation will occur. Here are two things to consider:

  1. There once was a time in America when no woman could vote. Yet, somehow, even though women could not vote, they all have the right to vote today. How did that happen?

  2. There was once a time in America where the large majority of people smoked cigarettes. Smoking was allowed everywhere -- even on airplanes and in public restrooms. Yet today, smoking is banned in most public spaces, including airplanes. How did that happen?

Would you like to help?

Here are four simple things that you can do today:

  • Add links to this web site in forums, blogs and newsgroups. Anywhere you see people discussing religion, add a link to this web site and quote specific sections that you think are relevant.
  • Link to this site in your own profiles, personal pages and blogs.
  • Email a link to this web site to your friends.
  • Encourage discussion and help others to start thinking rationally about religion.
You would be amazed at how much of an effect discussion and linking can have.

Both processes were remarkable and both mark tectonic shifts in public thinking. How did they happen?

The answer is that those two processes had to start somewhere. There had to come a point where some group of people in the minority said, "this is wrong, and we need to fix it." They began openly talking about the problem. Then other people in the minority agreed and the minority coalesced. Then the minority began to influence those on the outer edges of the majority. Once that process started and gained sufficient momentum, people came to their senses. The majority (e.g. smokers) lost their dominance. And now we all recognize that smokers have a problem: Smokers were unfortunate to become dependent on a highly addictive drug as teenagers, at a time when their rational brains were not fully developed. As a society, we now do our best to discourage teens from getting hooked and to help those who are already addicted.

Here is a simple question: Can we have the same sort of effect on religions like Christianity? Can we change Christianity from a "majority" activity into a fringe activity, and in the process replace it with something much, much better?

The idea of unseating something as strong as Christianity sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? But then, when women first started talking about gaining the right to vote, that sounded ridiculous too. We have to start somewhere.

This web site represents a starting point.

The way to change the world is to change people's minds. As more and more people openly discuss the fact that "God" and "Allah" are completely imaginary, the world becomes a better place. The people who believe in "religion" look sillier and sillier. Eventually, religion becomes a fringe activity that is meaningless.

Would you like to help speed up the process? It is easy -- Spread the word about this web site. Talk openly about the fact that God is imaginary and the many problems with religion. Here are four simple things that you can do today:

  • Add links to this web site in forums, blogs and newsgroups. Anywhere you see people discussing religion, add a link to http://whywontgodhealamputees.com and quote specific sections that you think are relevant.

  • Link to this site in your own profiles, personal pages and blogs. For example, if you have a page on MySpace, add a link. If you frequent forums, put a link in your signature. If you have a blog, put a link in the sidebar.

  • Email a link to this web site to your friends, neighbors, family members, etc.

  • Openly discuss the problems with "religion." Encourage discussion and help others to start thinking rationally about religion.
You would be amazed at how much of an effect discussion and linking can have. If we keep publicly discussing the problems of religion, we will coalesce the minority and then begin changing the majority. As discussed on this page, religion will eventually fall to rationality because of the immense weight of the evidence.

There are many paths to our goal on many different fronts, and your new ideas are welcome and encouraged.

Thank you for visiting today. We look forward to hearing from you!
